Organizational Goal Alignment: The Key to Effective Learning

Learning is manifested when there is a relatively permanent change in behavior.  Organizations today must create systemic change or they will lose in their markets.  This change is not haphazard or casual. Organizations must say NO to many things and focus on those few wildly important goals, which will make the difference economically, as well as, in the hearts and minds of their customers and employees. Employees must become passionate about those goals, must know how to translate them into individual behaviors, must have readily available measures that reflect their progress, must have high trust relationships with managers and leaders, and must be willing to work together in a spirit of mutual accountability.  Unfortunately, recent studies reveal that while most organizations have multiplied goals, fewer than half of employees actually know what those goals are, and even fewer get regular feedback on their performance, and unless something dramatic happens, organizations of all kinds will lose their capacity to execute.  This highly interactive presentation will share the startling statistics which document current reality and will illustrate four powerful leadership tools for resolving this dilemma, which leading authorities continue to proclaim as the single most critical challenge facing business today.

Blended learning is the “blending” and “balancing” of all the aspects of the two major modalities: face-to-face, instructor-led instruction and e-learning. Its purpose in employee training is to have these two modalities build on each other, rather than treating each other as mutually exclusive, in order to achieve better training results. This presentation will first explain each of these two modalities in details, discuss advantages and limitations of each modality and introduce examples of successful blended learning used in corporations. This presentation will continue to address influencing factors and important considerations of blended learning while providing suggestions for its effective design.
