PA/DE/NJ Distance Learning Association
January Meeting

"e-Learning Usability, Communication, & Gaming"

THE PROGRAM
"e-Learning Usability"
Join Mary Camp from NJM in an exploration of how usability measures the quality of a user's experience when interacting with a product or system. Usability is a combination of factors that affect the user's experience with the product or system, including ease of learning; efficiency of use; memorability; error frequency and severity; and subjective satisfaction. Mary will discuss why training professionals need to understand usability.

"Making a List, Checking it Twice"
Co-presenters Marty Siederer & Ralph De Simone have learned first-hand that before you disseminate information to your learning audience or customers, it's important to make sure that all of your online checkpoints are in place and operational. Learn more from their real-life experiences shared by a non-profit that is building an eLearning and emarketing platform.

"Games and Simulations for e-Learning"
Hear how Dr. Karl Kapp addresses the issue of the new "gamer" generation entering the workforce and demanding interactive, engaging online activities. These gamers find most e-learning "boring" when compared to the games and interactivity available to them through free websites and game platforms. This presentation discusses the creation and use of online games and simulations and how they can be used in corporate and academic settings. The presentation will discuss how games and simulations can be used as powerful educational tools to reach students, trainees and others who want to learn in an interactive environment. A demonstration of games used at a large pharmaceutical corporation and at an online high school will be provided as well as a few surprises. The presentation will end with practical advice on how to can incorporate games into your e- learning.

The Pennsylvania/Delaware/New Jersey Distance/e-Learning Association, cordially invites you to join us for this 1/2 day of presentations and networking to explore what's happening in Distance/e-Learning right here, right now!
