Introducing Reflecting on Peace Practice (RPP) – Tools for Designing Effective Peace and Social Justice Programs

Scope of Work:

The American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) is a Quaker organization that promotes lasting peace with justice, as a practical expression of faith in action.

We are looking for a volunteer instructional designer to help us develop our first e-learning modules! Candidates must be highly skilled in Articulate Storyline and have access to the software, character packages and other assets.

We plan to convert training materials from an in-person course we have recently developed into 1-3 learning modules. The intended audience is our domestic and international program staff (approximately 250 individuals dispersed across four domestic and four international regions). The course(s) is intended to provide a refresher for those who attended the in-person training, and an introduction for current and future program staff who have not.

The objective of the course is for learners to be able to determine whether their program is likely to achieve its intended result(s) and identify ways to adjust current work to achieve greater impact. The course will introduce learners to Reflecting on Peace Practice (RPP), a set of tools for designing effective peace and social justice programs. Upon completion of the module, learners will demonstrate familiarity with RPP terminology, have practiced applying the tools, and can recall where to seek additional support.

The volunteer on this project will be provided with an outline of the envisioned course design, including clear learning objectives and concrete ideas of scenario-based activities. S/he will also have access to supporting curricular materials (PowerPoint presentations, training manuals, and activities). The volunteer will consult monthly via phone or Skype with AFSC’s Organizational Learning Coordinator and a subject matter expert.

We anticipate that development of the first module will require a three months commitment, with potential for a longer term relationship.
