"Web  2.0 & Podcasting: Implications for Lifelong Learning & Business": Presented by Dr. Rod Murray, Ph.D Pharmacology, www.rodspulsepodcast.com

Podcasting is the fastest growing consumer electronic technology since the DVD. Podcasting involves the recording of audio or video programs that are then made available for listening from a website or downloading via a "pod catcher" for playback on a portable device while walking, exercising, or commuting. Like many other consumer technologies, podcasting is fast becoming a hot topic in business and education. Learn how podcasting is already being used to educate learners of all stripes, how to find relevant podcasts, and how to become a podcaster with only a small investment.

"Creating Consistent OnLine Learning Standards": Presented by Guiseppe Scillia, MS. Ed., Senior Director of Curriculum and eLearning

The scope of the Saint Joseph's University Online initiative is to deliver academic programs to students more often and more consistently than the previous offerings no matter when, where or who delivers the course. This is a major benefit to the student ,but also to the University. To achieve this goal, courses need to be taught in a standardized manner. As courses are delivered online, the instructor usually follows the basic sequence of slide presentations, readings, discussions, projects, exams and/or theses. Within this framework the instructor makes use of his/her expertise to guide, mentor and assess the student's progress and mastery. This is an excellent strategy that works in the classroom , as well as online. All courses within the same academic program have a similar look and feel with a consistent interface, and, also, a consistent pedagogical approach guaranteeing academic rigor and integrity. Our goal is to create a standard to which all online courses will generally adhere in order to provide consistency to our online learners and ensure the academic integrity needed.
